How Can We Help?

If you are affected by someone else’s substance misuse whether they are a member of your family or your partner, there is help available.

Some members of RODA's Friday family support group are continuing with a self help support group on alternate Friday mornings starting 13th January 2012 . Within a group session the aim is to support family members or partners through the sharing of experiences, and through exploring coping strategies you could use to deal with a drug misuser in the family.

Putting It Into Words

What our families say

I felt scared, confused, ashamed, angry and depressed until I contacted RODA. It takes a while, but eventually I felt more in control and relieved, and realised that it was not my fault when he failed. I felt more peaceful and secure because of the knowledge that I gained through RODA."

"I was absolutely at my wits end. My daughter was using drugs and I didn’t know who to turn to. My GP referred me to RODA. I went and now I have more knowledge and understanding of drugs. After getting support I have been able to cope better. I realise that I can’t fix it. It’s like a learning curve, they are on a journey and so are we."
