 Welcome To RODA

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

RODA exists to meet the needs of families and friends whose
lives are affected by a loved one’s substance misuse.
We acknowledge the fear and distress experienced by extended
family members and friends and offer practical and emotional support.

About us:
RODA provides support for family and friends of drug and alcohol users throughout Sheffield.
We started in 1994 when a group of mums found that there was no support available for them, and so they got together and started supporting each other.
15 years later RODA now provides a range of services including support  groups, telephone support, information workshops,  as well as an outreach service whereby a support worker can visit you in your home or at a suitable venue.

Comments from Family Members:

I felt scared, confused, ashamed, angry and depressed until I contacted RODA. It takes a while, but eventually I felt more in control and relieved, and realised that it was not my fault when he failed. I felt more peaceful and secure because of the knowledge that I gained through RODA."

Quote from a family member.

"I was absolutely at my wits end. My daughter was using
drugs and I didn’t know who to turn to. My GP referred me to RODA.
I went and now I have more knowledge and understanding of drugs.
After getting support I have been able to cope better. I realise that I can’t
fix it. It’s like a learning curve, they are on a journey and so are we."
Quote from a family member.

If you are affected by someone else’s substance misuse and would like help or advice, contact RODA on 0114 231 4443.

We provide free, confidential and non-judgemental support to family members and friends coping with a loved one’s drug or alcohol use.
